Eugene laney

President and CEO American Association of Exporters and Importers (AAEI) Eugene Laney Jr. currently serves as AAEI’s President & CEO. He has over 25 years of experience in public and governmental affairs. Eugene previously served as the Head of International Government Affairs for DHL Express USA. He represented DHL before the U.S. Congress and government agencies and foreign embassies and served as DHL Express’ media spokesperson on international trade issues. Eugene’s recent work included contributing to congressional passage of the Trade Facilitation and Enforcement Act of 2015, which seeks to help U.S. businesses grow globally by improving the transparency and predictably of trade and customs laws. Prior to joining DHL, Eugene served on the leadership team for the Global Business Travel Association (GBTA), the largest trade association dedicated to the interests of business travel professionals and suppliers. At GBTA, Eugene worked on transportation, homeland security and economic issues with Fortune 500 travel departments and airlines, hotels, and travel agencies, including following the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, Eugene worked with the Federal Aviation Administration, the White House, and the newly formed Transportation Security Administration to create a pathway to improve the nation’s airport security. Eugene received his Ph.D. in American Government at Howard University and his B.A. and Master of Public Administration from Florida A&M University. He has an Executive Certificate in Management and Leadership from MIT’s Sloan School of Management.

Stefan Harrigan

Manager, Global Business Development Atlanta Chamber of Commerce Stefan Harrigan is the Global Business Development Manager for the Global Commerce team in Economic Development. Stefan leads the export and international outbound growth initiatives, and also assists with foreign direct investment (FDI) projects. He is an international relations and business professional with experience in both Europe and the U.S. Prior to joining MAC, Stefan served as an International Trade Manager with the Georgia Department of Economic Development where he consulted exporters throughout the state on their international business strategy and developed global relationships with key stakeholders and partners to promote Georgia exports. Stefan obtained his B.A. in world politics from Leiden University College in the Netherlands and a joint Master of Arts in transatlantic affairs from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University and the Collège d'Europe. He is fluent in German and proficient in Dutch. When not in the office, Stefan is an avid skier and backcountry hiker. 


Director Supply Chain Sustainability KION Group DeAnn Hargis has a distinguished career in Fortune 500 and SMB enterprises. Beginning in operations excellence, DeAnn was the “Go To” person to transform purchasing and supply chain organizations at a time when extreme cost reductions were required to meet bottom-line merger commitments. Recruited to lead Supply Chain Sustainability and Compliance, DeAnn created a global team that delivered brand differentiating, bottom-line impacting results. After a brief and successful stint in outside sales of LTL trucking services, DeAnn is currently leading Supply Chain Sustainability across 6 global brands for KION Group. DeAnn has earned an Executive Certificate in Sustainable Management Systems from the Presidio Graduate School in San Francisco, California; a Master of Business Administration – International Business from Fairleigh Dickinson University in Madison, New Jersey; and a Bachelor of Arts in Computer Science from Maryville College in Maryville, Tennessee. DeAnn resides in Atlanta, Georgia with her husband and two sons.
